BETTER TO HAVE AND NOT NEED THAN TO NEED AND NOT HAVE
i am absolutely hell-bent and above excited about doing the Appalachian Trail come March 2014. i have never completed a “thru-hike” anywhere and 6-7 months of trekking is unknown waters to me. i may try to hook up with a charity like wounded warrior to see if i can raise any money doing this.
is there any thru-hikers out there with gear recommendations, exercise regiments prior to engagement, tips and stories from the trail, where to send supplies along the way, if a smartphone or sos beacon is necessary, specific camera to bring to document cool plants n shit, certain paces to keep in different areas, where i will need permits, where to acquire said permits, etc.
message me any and all information you have, i want to learn everything there is to learn.
